The road to sustainability is long. There are, indeed, three Seal’s levels. We recently reached the third level – which is the highest - and corresponds to the GSTC certification and it is thus globally recognized.
Here in South Tyrol there is a seal for accommodation companies that are actively committed to a sustainable future. Based on the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), it honors those tourism businesses that make their contribution to protecting the unique nature, traditions and habitat of South Tyrol.

Regional products Freshness, quality and authenticity

Our guests are welcomed with a sweet surprise from the South Tyrolean company Loacker and a bottle of spring water. In order to support our sustainability goals, we work almost exclusively with regional suppliers. This allows us to reduce environmental impact through shorter transport routes while strengthening the local economy. By using fresh and seasonal ingredients from the region, we can offer you high-quality and environmentally friendly food.

Please understand that it is not always possible to only use regional products. In these case we strive to find the best possible alternative.

Energy Energy-saving lamps

In order to support our ecological goals and protect the environment, we use energy-saving lamps in our hotel. These use significantly less energy than conventional light bulbs and therefore help reduce our CO2 emissions. We have also chosen Alperia Südtirol, an electricity provider that generates 100% green energy.

Own block-type thermal power station

We have installed our own block-type thermal power station at the hotel to produce our own electricity and heat.

Laundry service/bathing slippers save water & energy

To protect the environment, we only change bed linen and towels upon request. This measure helps save valuable resources such as water and energy and reduces the use of detergents.

The Laundry is washed and prepared directly in-house. For the sake of the environment, we have decided to no longer provide slippers in the rooms as standard. We ask our guests to bring their own slippers. Of course, you can get some at reception upon request.

Natural furniture

To underline our commitment to sustainability, we chose natural furniture. This means that we rely on natural materials and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes to create a harmonious and healthy environment.

Regional products in the Hotel shop

In our hotel shop we offer a variety of regional and organic products. Many of the items on offer come directly from the area and were made there. By purchasing these products, you support the local economy and help reduce transportation distances, which benefits the environment.

Natural bathing pond

The natural swimming pond in the Hotel Sonnenberg stands for sustainability and environmental awareness. The water is naturally purified without chemical additives such as chlorine. This promotes the reduction of energy consumption, which improves the carbon footprint. The pond offers a healthy swimming opportunity for our guests.

Mobility

We offer our guest a free pick-up at the train station to give you a stress-free start to your stay. This exclusive service is not only convenient but also environmentally friendly.

Numerous hiking and biking routes

start right on our doorstep. We are well prepared for excursion destinations in the surrounding area, as the in-house rental of e-bikes (chargeable) enables our guests to reach great destinations. In winter our guests can reach the ski slopes directly from the house.

Natural home care products

Our cleaning products from Unyrain are sustainable and biodegradable. In this way, we actively contribute to reducing environmental pollution and conserving natural resources. We also use the “ECO label” for biodegradable products from Unyrain for the numerous hygiene products.

Swimming pool electrolysis system with salt

Our salt electrolysis system produces chlorine for disinfecting the pool from salt. Salt electrolysis has several advantages: it automatically generates and doses chlorine in the pool, avoids the storage and handling of chemical products and is completely safe as it only requires table salt. The water is therefore softer and more pleasant for the skin!

Save water

Our house is equipped with flow regulators. It is an effective way to save water while protecting the environment. The water flow is reduced without compromising comfort when washing hands or showering. By using flow regulators, we can reduce water consumption by up to 50%.

Employees

We attach great importance to employing employees from the region, so we can benefit from their local knowledge and cultural understanding. Many of our employees can reach work on foot. We offer two staff apartments, many come directly from the location and the remaining employees can reach the workplace by public transport and car-sharing. We offer our employees attractive benefits and a wide range of further training opportunities.

Local associations

As a locally rooted hotel, it is particularly important to us to support the local community. We make financial contributions to local associations such as sports clubs, the church community and the tourism cooperation in order to promote their important work. We are proud to contribute to strengthening the sense of community and promoting cultural life in our region.
